Awake from a deliciously deep sleep to the chorus of birdsong between the branches of an old oak, and marvel at the absolute indulgence of this beautifully bespoke escape. Trawscwm (pronounced ‘trascoom’) treehouse is an oasis of seclusion and solitude, with no phone signal or Wi-Fi providing an ideal opportunity to disconnect from your devices, and reconnect with yourself.
Entirely built by the hands of owners John and Laura, Trawscwm Treehouse sits amidst the rolling fields of a working, family-run farm near Llanbister, Mid Wales. With only the occasional ambling sheep for company, this luxurious location promises absolute privacy and endless views of gorgeous greenery. To access the treehouse, you’ll need to bundle only the essentials into a wheelbarrow, pull on the wellies, and wander across the fields, leaving your cares further behind with each step.
Inside the Treehouse
Boasting truly beautiful interiors with cool, quirky pieces, Trawscwm is an open-plan oasis of natural timber and contemporary charm. Experience floor-to-ceiling views of the scenic surroundings from the spacious shower and blissful bathtub, or curl up atop the comfortable armchair with a riveting read whilst your other half cooks up a delightful dinner in the well-equipped kitchen.
Outside the Treehouse
Large double doors open up to bring the outdoors in, and a delightful wrap-around deck provides many a perch for wildlife watching. It won’t take long to succumb to the allure of the inviting hot tub, offering sensational soaks beneath the branches. There is also a hammock suspended from the stilts below, as well as an extended outdoor area with games for little ones and a firepit, perfect for toasting marshmallows beneath the starry skies.
Perfectly placed for a vast array of adventures and activities, Trawscwm is only a short drive from the Elan Valley attractions, including the awe-inspiring Victorian dams. For fans of cute creatures and wonderful wildlife, also close by is the Red Kite Feeding Station in Rhayader as well as the Knighton Small Breeds Centre.
If you’re in search of adrenaline, the Phil Price Rally School in Llangullo is sure to spark up the senses, or perhaps you’d like to try your hand at Clay Target Shooting only a few miles away. The Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells is also home to the Metropole Hotel which offers some seriously sublime spa packages, but if you’d like to be pampered in the comfort of your own accomodation, you can also organise treatments directly from the treehouse.
If you’re looking to dine out during your stay, there is a whole host of inspiring eateries available in the nearby towns of Llandrindod Wells, Llanbister and Knighton, with boutique bistro Worth Your Salt Co. offering a more ambient experience, and The Lion providing hearty pub grub.
