The Stables at Lower Carterspiece Farm
Situated in the wonderful Forest of Dean Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this 400 year old converted stables is a great place to set up camp. Based at Lower Carterspiece Farm this lovely accommodation boasts unrivalled views across green farmlands and the stunning Wye Valley. The perfect place to escape the city to wind down or explore the local area and all the activities it has to offer.
This lovely holiday accommodation sleeps up to four guests so is perfect for a family staycation or catching up with friends. Guests at The Stables are given a lovely welcome pack containing eggs from the owner Mandy’s own hens, some delicious cake, freshly baked bread, tea and coffee. For that little extra treat, meals can be pre booked so you don’t even have to worry about cooking! Once you’re all unpacked why not go outside and hop into your own private hot tub? How delightful!
The Stables and Lower Carterspiece Farm date back to the 17th century. Many of the original features such as beautiful wooden beams have been retained which are very aesthetically pleasing. A spacious living area is perfect for playing board games with the family and nestling down in the evenings. Off the living room you will find a sumptuous double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom can be modified to have two twin beds or another double. The Stables has a fully equipped kitchen/dining area situated in the sunny, south/westerly facing conservatory. Double doors lead out from the conservatory onto the patio and garden.
Outside The Stables
A secluded patio and magnificent garden with an abundance of shrubs and flowers awaits your arrival. Here you will also find your own private hot tub where you can bubble away and soak up the wonderful panoramic views towards the Black Mountains.
The Stables is located in English Bicknor, a civil parish lying on the westerly edge of the Forest of Dean. There is an endless list of things to do for the whole family in this amazing part of the country. For the water babies amongst us, the nearby River Wye offers great opportunities for kayaking, canoeing or paddle boarding. Guided river tours can be booked with Wye Adventures or canoes can be hired from Canoe the Wye.
For the cyclists, the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley provide many cycling trails, whether you fancy some downhill tracks or a circular gentle family trail it really has it all! Ebikes can also be hired if you would prefer a leisurely ride. After an adventurous day don’t forget you have the hot tub to soothe those achy muscles.
Just four miles from The Stables you will find Symonds Yat Rock. An ancient hill fort well known as one of the best places in the country for spotting birds of prey such as Peregrine Falcons. With panoramic views it is also a great place to stop and have a picnic.
Restaurants for every occasion are available in the Forest of Dean and not too far away from your holiday let. As well as this a variety of farm shops and delis have plenty of tasty treats on offer!
