Tucked away in 2.5 acres of meadow in the small village of Mitcheldean, these wonderful cabins are the perfect romantic getaway or catch up with friends. The Roost consists of the Nook and the Nest cedar wood cabins. These bespoke creations have been lovingly crafted by one of the Forest’s talented carpenters. Tastefully decorated with quirky handmade furnishings and Japanese soak tubs, the cabins provide the ultimate environment for some serious relaxation and escapism to nature. The cabins can be rented individually or together. And each sleeps two adults and two four legged friends (who will be spoilt with their own handmade truckle bed and blankets). Complimentary scones, jam and butter will be waiting on your arrival, perfect for recharging after your journey.
Inside Each Cabin
The Nook and the Nest have been tastefully finished off with lovely calming tones and soft furnishings. Combining the best of indoor/outdoor living, the cabins have large French doors which open out onto the covered decking area. Perfect for really soaking up the natural beauty that you are surrounded in. Each cabin has a custom made sumptuous king size bed with soft Egyptian cotton linens. Fluffy bath robes are also provided for that extra bit of luxury. A small, stylish, fully equipped kitchen provides all the essentials for cooking up some easy meals. The cabins also have a cosy seating area in front of a wood burning stove, perfect for those chilly winter evenings. A large bathroom features a glorious walk in shower. With complimentary toiletries including locally made Mitcheldean soap provided.
To The Outside
Relax and unwind in the calmful oasis just outside your Nook or Nest. On your own private veranda you will find a Japanese soak tub for two, perfect to soak in after a long day of walking. Step down from the veranda into the meadow where a fire pit, griddle and BBQ utensils are provided so that you can awaken your inner Ray Mears and do some great outdoor cooking. If you really want to treat yourselves a variety of food boxes can be ordered. Such as a barbecue box or a naughty but nice box! A cedarwood swinging love seat provides the best spot to sit and plan your walking routes and to stargaze from. OS ranger maps are provided in the cabins.
Near to The Roost
The Roost is situated in thriving village of Mitcheldean on the western side of the Forest of Dean. Popular amongst cyclists, the Forest of Dean has numerous trails of varying difficulties, perfect for all fitness levels. A lockable bike shed is available for guests at The Roost or Wye Bikes can deliver a bike to your cabin. Forest walks are endless in this part of the world. So take your time and plan ahead, just pack your wellies!
If you are a bit of a water baby then canoeing and wild swimming are both just a few minutes drive away. Symonds Yat is also only a short drive away and is a great place to spot birds of prey from the internationally famous viewpoint. For food and drink, Mitcheldean boasts two microbreweries for you to indulge in. And in the nearby town of Ross on Wye there are lots of lovely eateries to sample.
