Penlan Lodges – Shepherds Hill
1000ft up in the Welsh Hills, with easy access to the west coast and an awe-inspiring panorama of the surrounding countryside, there is a high-end, romantic retreat offering absolute seclusion and truly indulgent interiors. Soothing on the senses and easy on the eye, Shepherds Hill is a luxurious lodge that you absolutely won’t want to leave.
Serenely sat on a working sheep farm, Shepherds Hill is perfectly placed in an adventurous area where walks and outdoor activities are in abundance. Just one hour from the Victorian seaside spot of Aberystwyth and offering many a rural ramble nearby, it’s perfect for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle and reconnect with nature. That being said, the amazing interior and delightful deck of the lodge itself might have you simply staying put in a contented cocoon.
Cool and contemporary with plush elements and parquet flooring throughout, the lodge offers an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space with a beautifully boutique bedroom that features a king size bed and copper bath. The kitchen is very well-equipped should you wish to cook during your stay and the large, panoramic windows and doors allow a stunning indoor to outdoor flow with natural light in abundance.
A delightful deck spans the entire length of Shepherds Hill lodge, with access through both the kitchen and bedroom. Quite the sun trap, the deck is equipped with reclining wicker chairs and your own private hot tub to ensure maximum relaxation and perfect privacy. With endless views of the surrounding fields and the wonderfully fresh Welsh air to still your soul, you are guaranteed to leave the lodge feeling relaxed, recharged and reinvigorated.
Specifically placed so that you can enjoy the scenic splendour, the lodge is in a romantically rural spot which means a car is the best option for getting out and about to see the local area. The Victorian Spa town of Llandrindod Wells is only a short drive away, as is the stunning Water Break-It’s-Neck Waterfall as well as the attractions of the Elan and Claerwen Valleys.
Foodie haven of Ludlow with its Michelin starred restaurants and acclaimed local produce can be accessed easily by a nearby A-road or even an undulating scenic route if you want to really explore the area. Builth Wells is also within easy reach and is where they hold the prestigious Royal Welsh Show each year.
For further recommendations or perhaps a pre-planned farm adventure, helpful owners Anita & Glyn (along with their four dogs) are available for advice and tips and are willing to be as discreet or as present as you wish them to be during your stay.
