Fishermans Cottage

If you’re dreaming of sun, sea and sand in a pretty harbour town then look no further! This exquisite 200 year old Fishermans Cottage, situated a stone’s throw away from the waters edge in Wells-Next-the-Sea (Wells), is the perfect place for you.  Sit back, relax and unwind in this stylishly refurbished cottage in the heart of the North Norfolk coast.

Escape the hustle and bustle of life and treat yourself to a traditional seaside staycation. Fishermans Cottage has been beautifully restored yet has managed to showcase some of the wonderful original features. Including lovely oak beams, an inglenook fireplace and a cosy wood burning stove, perfect for those chilly winter nights. This quaint retreat sleeps two guests and a four legged friend (bed and bowel provided for their comfort).

Inside Fishermans Cottage

Step through the stable door into your open-plan downstairs living area. Featuring a bespoke wooden kitchen with all the essentials to cook up an easy meal. And a Nespresso coffee machine with compostable tubs, perfect for the coffee lovers amongst us!  A comfortable sofa is ready for you to curl up on and a wood burning stove is ready to be lit. So pour yourself a glass of wine (or two!?) and maybe play a game of scrabble or cards. Climb up the beautiful Norfolk winder staircase to find your contemporary double bedroom with sea views. A sumptuous king size bed with a fluffy duvet and plump pillows adorned with bedding from The White Company.  Leading off from the bedroom, open the double doors into your shower room. Stylishly decorated with a vintage wash stand and white tiles. Norfolk Natural Living toiletries and fluffy towels are provided.

Outdoors

Due to the great location of Fishermans Cottage you are within a couple of minutes walk from the sweeping sandy beaches of Wells-Next-the-Sea. Located on the quieter east side of the harbour, it’s a 2 minute walk into town where you can while away the afternoon mooching around shops, boutiques and art galleries. What a great way to spend the day!

Nearby

Wells is considered by many as one of the best beaches in the country, spend your time exploring the seemingly endless expanse of sand and raised dunes. Perhaps try your hand at flying a kite or a spot of birdwatching. Shorebirds like oystercatchers and ringed plovers can be seen on the beach, and maybe some seals if you’re lucky. Wells also has its own Guinness World Record for holding 10 ¼ gauge miniature railways, which has been taking visitors to the beach since 1976. So instead of walking to the beach on one of your days, enjoy this unique short ride!

If you’re feeling adventurous, you could take a guided paddleboard tour or hire at rowing boat at Holkham Hall. After a busy few hours exploring, take a seat on the harbour wall and treat yourselves to some delicious fish ‘n’ chips. Grab a blanket and watch the sunset on the beach before taking a leisurely stroll back to the cottage, to cosy up on the sumptuous sofa.
